Lawrence Edward Russell

June 18, 1954 — June 14, 2016

Lawrence Edward Russell, age 61, passed away in the Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton on Tuesday, June 14, 2016. Born in Boston, Massachusetts on June 18, 1954, he was raised in Sharon and graduated from Sharon High School with the Class of 1972, where he was a dedicated member of the Eagles Football Team. After graduation, Larry spent a short time in the United States Army before he returned to his beloved hometown of Sharon to begin his career in construction. On June 30, 1989, Larry married his wife, Ellen Singer, and together they made their home in Mansfield.

Shortly after, in 1990, he took a position with the Massachusetts Water Resources Authority (MWRA). Larry retired from the MWRA in 2004 as the Head of Grounds Keeping after 15 years of service to the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

His work for the MWRA did not define Larry, who was a dedicated family man. He loved coaching his son, Larry, Jr., in Mansfield Football and Little League as well as taking both his daughter Liz, and Larry fishing at his favorite spots. He looked forward to every family Bar-B-Que and would always make everyone smile with his wonderful sense of humor.

Larry was an avid sports fan and loved both watching as well as being involved. He loved golfing and was a member of the Rodman Ford Team in the Sharon Men's Softball League. He enjoyed quiet time too, watching Western Movies as well as spending time with his dogs, Buck and Oscar and his cat, Boots.
He will be forever remembered for his heart of gold and will be treasured in the memories of all that knew him.

Beloved husband of Ellen (Singer) Russell.
Loving father of Elizabeth A. Russell of Foxborough and Lawrence E. Russell, Jr. of Mansfield.
Devoted son of Kathleen A. Russell of Sharon and the late George E. Russell.
Cherished brother of Patricia R. Berger of Sharon, Judith L. Greenfield of Sharon, Stephen M. Russell of Stoughton, and Mary R. Benoit of Merrimack, NH.
Also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins as well as 2 great nephews and 1 great niece.
