Kevin Joseph Burke, age 69, passed away on Sunday, January 22, 2023, at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, Massachusetts, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Boston, Massachusetts on November 11, 1953, he was the son of the late William Joseph and Joan T. (Cleary) Burke. He was raised in Norwood, Massachusetts, where he attended Saint Catherine's Elementary School. Kevin went on to attend Norwood High School, where at the age of fourteen, he met his sweetheart, Linda S. Bergman. Two years later, Kevin left his formal education behind, taking a position with Per Mark in Norwood, learning to build circuit boards.
Kevin married his beloved wife, Linda, on November 4, 1972, in the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Norwood. The couple initially made their home in Norwood and seven years later they settled in Walpole, Massachusetts. As Kevin honed his skills, he quickly became an expert in his field, taking positions with Raytheon in Norwood and Computer Vision in Waltham. In 1988, Kevin and Linda opened their own business, New Wave Electronic Services, fulfilling contracts to assemble printed circuit boards. Together, they operated the company for twenty-two years before retiring in 2010.
Throughout his life, Kevin looked forward to many adventures around the country, exploring new places whenever he could. One of his favorite places to explore was the Myrtle Beach, South Carolina area, with his wife, Linda, or her cousin, Kenny McClintock. After several trips to Myrtle Beach, Kevin and Linda purchased a vacation home there, enjoying everything that the beach community had to offer. Some of his other adventures brought him to the mountains of Tennessee, NASCAR races, or hikes just to see where the path may lead. While on these various trips, Kevin was sure to stop into the local stores, hunting for die cast cars and trucks to add to his collection. For a short time, Kevin turned his hobby of collecting model cars into a business, opening a store front just outside Norwood center. So many of his trips were centered around music festivals or concerts. He attended countless shows at various venues, taking in the music, atmosphere, and vibes all around him.
Most of all, Kevin was devoted to his family, treasuring every moment he spent with those he loved. He passed on his love of music to his children, taking them along to some of his favorite festivals or shows. After welcoming his grandchildren, Kevin looked forward to accompanying them on their own walking adventures, as they were the light of his life.
