Kathleen Ellen Foster

Kathleen Ellen (Dowling) Foster, age 72 years, died in the Norwood Hospital on Monday, September 9, 2013. Born in Boston, Massachusetts on November 3, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Edward A. and Catherine J. (Donovan) Dowling. She graduated from Cardinal Cushing High School with the class of 1958 and went on to graduate from the Boston Clerical School with the class of 1959. Ellen has been a resident of Walpole, Massachusetts for the past 40 years, moving from Roslindale.

She was a homemaker for all of her adult life, raising and caring for her family.

Ellen was a member of the Early Bird Bowling League in East Walpole, the Blessed Sacrament Church Choir for over 30 years, and The Breakfast Club. As an avid square dancer, she served as the treasurer of the Do-Si-Doers Square Dance Club.

She was a talented knitter, and made baby sweater sets, as well as, clothing for the American Girl Dolls. Ellen enjoyed playing solitaire and traveling, especially to Ireland and Cape Cod. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family, especially her granddaughters.

Beloved wife of 51 years of Ronald J. Foster. Loving mother of Donna-Marie Hennessy and her husband Edward of Medford and Denise Vierra and her husband Timothy of Attleboro. Cherished grandmother of Kaitlyn, Kylie, and Maureen. Sister of Edward A. Dowling of Buzzards Bay and the late Joanne M. Dowling. Also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend Ellen's Life Celebration on Friday, September 13, 2013 from 4-8 PM and Saturday, September 14, 2013 from 9-9:30 AM in the James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home 48 Common Street Walpole. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Blessed Sacrament Church, East Street (Route 27) at Diamond Street, Walpole on Saturday, September 14, 2013 at 10:00 AM. Interment will be in Saint Francis Cemetery in Walpole. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Walpole Area VNA, Attn: Finance Office, P.O. Box 252, Walpole, MA 02081.
