Karen A. (Hansen) Lamonica, age 79, passed away on Thursday, May 27, 2021 at the Milford Regional Hospital. Born in Boston, Massachusetts on August 17, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Howard P. and Florence Helen (Pare) Hansen. She was raised in Walpole, Massachusetts, where she graduated from Walpole High School with the Class of 1959. Karen continued her studies at the Chandler School for Women, earning her associates degree in 1961. Following her graduation, Karen took a position with the Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston, working in the admitting office.
Throughout her life, Karen was friendly with Andrew Lamonica, and following his discharge from the Air Force, they began dating. Karen and Andy were married on May 8, 1965 in Blessed Sacrament Church in Walpole, surrounded by their close group of friends. The young couple settled in Walpole, where Karen took on the role of a homemaker, raising and caring for her three children, Robert, Lisa, and Eric. When her children were young, she returned to the working world, taking a part time waitressing position with the Golden Steer on Route 1 in Walpole. As her children grew up, Karen began working full time as a nurse's aide at the Weston Manor and later took a position with Comcast in the Walpole and Foxboro offices. She retired in 2003 from the Comcast office in Norwood, after many years of dedicated service.
Throughout her life, Karen remained active in her community. She was a longtime member of Blessed Sacrament Church and their Catholic Women's Club. Karen was also a member of the Sons of Italy, Walpole Foxboro Lodge, spending countless hours with her fellow members and friends. As an avid traveler, Karen was a member of the Wacky Women Wanderers in Norwood, taking various trips throughout the United States, sometimes trying her luck at a local casino. Back at home, Karen enjoyed playing dominoes with her friends, as well as some quiet time, reading or working on various arts and crafts projects.

Loving mother of Robert A. Lamonica and his wife, Paula, of Walpole, Lisa M. Peterson and her significant other, Arthur Fleming, of Upton, and Eric M. Lamonica of Milford.
Cherished grandmother of Bethany Peterson, Kendra Peterson, and Michaela Lamonica.
Sister of Donna Belmore and her late husband, John, of Walpole and Michael Hansen and his significant other, Hannah Sukonick, of Cambridge.
Also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to gather for Karen's visitation on Tuesday, June 1, 2021 from 9 to 10 AM in the James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home, 48 Common Street, Walpole. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow in Blessed Sacrament Church, 10 Diamond Street, Walpole at 10:30 AM. Interment will take place privately.
