Karen Marie (Usher) Ferri, age 75, passed away on Saturday, February 17, 2024, at her home in Norfolk, Massachusetts, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Boston, Massachusetts on November 13, 1948, she was the daughter of the late John and Eileen (Lee) Usher. Karen spent her early years in Boston's Mission Hill Neighborhood, before her family settled in Brockton, Massachusetts, where she graduated from Brockton High School with the Class of 1966. Following her graduation, Karen took a secretarial position at a local business.
Karen married her beloved husband, Mario Ferri, on August 26, 1973, at Blessed Sacrament Church in Walpole. The young couple made their home on Stone Street in Walpole, where Karen took on the role of a homemaker, raising and caring for her family. As her household grew, the Ferri family settled into their home on West Street in Walpole, where they raised two children, Lisa and Paul. As her family grew up, Karen returned to her career, first taking a retail position at the Dedham Mall before finding a job with Gallo's Flowers in Walpole. She loved being in the floral shop, whether taking orders, helping customers at the counter, or creating her own beautiful arrangements. Karen spent a short time working as a teller at Foxboro Savings Bank in Walpole Center, prior to becoming a certified laboratory technician at Damian Lab in Westwood. After learning all about lab work, Karen took her newly acquired skills to the American Red Cross, working in the Dedham lab for many years until her retirement in 2012.
Throughout her life, Karen was an avid Boston sports fan, never missing a Red Sox or Patriots game. When her hometown teams weren't playing, Karen enjoyed curling up with a good book, finding herself lost in the plot line of a mystery or thriller.
Most of all, Karen was devoted to her family, treasuring every moment with the ones she loved so dearly. She looked forward to several trips to Connecticut with her husband, Mario, trying their luck at Foxwoods or Mohegan Sun. Karen was delighted to earn the nickname "Bubbie" as she welcomed her grandchildren, Jake and Harper. In her retirement, she enjoyed taking an active role in their care and upbringing.
