Judith Ann Werner

June 5, 1942 — December 18, 2016

Judith Ann "Judie" Werner, age 74, passed away in the Newton Wellesley Hospital on Sunday, December 18, 2016. Born in Weymouth, Massachusetts on June 5, 1942, she was the daughter of the late Lloyd and Olive (Clark) Dunn and the twin sister of June. She graduated from the Whitman Hanson High School with the Class of 1960.

Judie married her husband, Dick Werner, on November 3, 1962 and together they made their home in Falmouth, Massachusetts. Judie welcomed her first son, Rick, in February of 1963 and shortly after, Judie and Dick moved to Natick, before spending two years in Manchester, New Hampshire. While living in NH, Judie welcomed her second son, Scott in November of 1965. In 1966, Judie and Dick moved their young family to Cedar Grove, New Jersey, where they welcomed their third son, Jeff in June of 1970, returning to Massachusetts in 1978, settling in Hingham. The young family departed Massachusetts once again in 1982, moving to Midlothian, Virginia and in 1984, settled in Matthews, North Carolina for 7 years. Judie's family grew again in May of 1985, with the addition of her first granddaughter, Kristen. In 1991, Judie and Dick moved back to Massachusetts and made their home in Walpole. Judie was a mother figure to Kristen, as Kristen lived with her father, Rick, and Dick and Judie in Walpole during her elementary and junior high school years. While living in Walpole, Judie took a Chiropractic Assistant position with TriTown Chiropractic. Her family continued to grow, as Judie welcomed her second granddaughter, Elizabeth, in November of 1999 and her third granddaughter, Meghan, in May of 2002. All of her grandchildren were the loves of her life. She enjoyed attending their sporting events and school activities throughout the years. In 2011, Judie and Dick moved to the River's Edge Community in Norfolk and shortly after in 2012, she retired from TriTown, after 18 years of dedicated service.

Judie was a long-term member at Walpole Country Club, and a former member of Wimbledon 109 Tennis Club. Judie has many friends in all of the communities where she has lived over the years. Her special group of friends, "The Lucky 7" enjoyed many trips, game nights and glasses of wine together. Judie enjoyed playing bridge at the Norfolk Community Center and all of the social events taking place with the "Village People" at River's Edge. Judie was the first to arrive and the last to leave at any social gathering. Her love for family and friends was a priority in her life and is quite evident by the outpouring of love her family has received during her passing. We would like to thank the incredible staff at Newton Wellesley Hospital, especially the nurses in the ICU, for the outstanding care and compassion they gave Judie in her final days.
