Judith A. Herman

January 18, 1946 — August 29, 2020

Judith Ann ‘Judee’ (McNamara) Herman, age 74, passed away on August 29th, 2020 at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston. Born in Everett, she was the daughter of the late Francis J. and Ethel M. (Dorney) McNamara. She was raised in Malden and attended St. Mary High School in Cambridge graduating with the Class of 1963. While at St.Mary’s, Judee participated in basketball and cheerleading, coaching the youth basketball team and carrying on with her cheering at Salem State University until her graduation in 1967.

With a degree in education, Judee moved to Philadelphia in the inner city to teach grade school. She moved to Yonkers, NY and started her family, going across the pond to London, England  for a year before retuning home to Malden where she continued to raise her family before landing on Betty Road in Walpole. She remained in her Betty Road home for 39 years before taking residency on Cape Cod.

Judee enjoyed playing tennis, playing cards, skiing and sun bathing at her Cape Cod home. She was very social and enjoyed being with others, even joining the Sitzundjibers Club, a social club out of Boston for professionals.  She also found happiness in shopping for clothes and décor, cooking and traveling across the world. Some of Judee’s favorite times were spent decorating for the holidays with her family, grandchildren and friends, enjoying every moment of her favorite season with the people she cared for the most.

Loving mother of Kym Peterson and her husband Kelly of Norfolk, Erik Herman of Medfield and Kurt Herman and wife Stephanie of Norfolk.
Cherished grandmother of Emma, Dylan, Meghan, Julian, Alexandra, Mac and Deegan.
Sister of Karen McNamara of Georgia, Marylynne Dias-McNamara of Andover, Deborah Murray of Charestown and Gail Conway of Boston.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend Judee's Life Celebration on Tuesday, September 1st, 2020 from 4 to 8 PM in the James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home, 48 Common Street, Walpole.

As a result of the ongoing and ever-developing health crisis in the world and with genuine concern for the people whom they love, Judee’s family has decided that her funeral mass and interment in Woodlawn Cemetery will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Massachusetts Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 220 North Main Street, Suite 104, Natick, MA 01760.
