Josephine M. (Bradley) Connolly, age 78, passed away peacefully in her Walpole, Massachusetts home on Wednesday, October 30, 2019, surrounded by her loving family. Born in St. Theresa’s, Prince Edward Island, Canada on May 24, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Emmett and Annie (Morrissey) Bradley. She was raised and educated on Prince Edward Island and after completing her formal education, Jo taught school in some of the smaller communities of PEI in addition to teaching one term in Shawinigan, Quebec.
Jo married her beloved husband, Erwin F. Connolly, on August 10, 1963. The young couple came to the United States of America, settling in Dorchester, where they welcomed their two sons, Darryl and Bob. In 1967, Jo and Erwin moved to Quincy and welcome their daughter Debbie. As a dedicated wife and mother, Jo took on the role of a homemaker, raising and caring for her family. In 1976 Jo and Erwin moved their family to Walpole, Massachusetts. It was from her Walpole home that Jo watched her three children grow up and graduate high school.
Fast forward to 1991, Jo saw her oldest son, Darryl, marry his wife, Cheryl. The following year was truly Jo’s banner year. At the age of 51 Jo earned her real estate agent’s license, and took a job with Berkshire Hathaway, Page Realty’s Medfield office, thus beginning her very successful career in real estate. Jo also became a grandmother that year, welcoming her twin grandchildren Amanda and Michael, whom she loved spending time with every chance she had.
Jo became an avid Red Sox Fan sticking with them through the good years and the bad and was thrilled when they finally won the World Series in 2004.
Even though she was well adapted to the Bostonian lifestyle, she never forgot her roots or her family who she left behind. Jo and Erwin returned to Prince Edward Island yearly, enjoying time spent with their family and friends. Canada was not the only destination on the map for Jo, as she enjoyed visiting Florida, Las Vegas and New York, as well as taking cross country road trips with Erwin.
Come 2018, as Jo was planning her retirement from real estate she was diagnosed with cancer. She fought an incredible battle with her strong determination and wonderful sense of humor., allowing her to enjoy this past year with family and friends while living life to the fullest.
