Joseph S. Gallo age 101 years died in the Harrington House Nursing and Rehabilitation Center on Friday, March 19, 2010. Born in Naples, Italy on December 28, 1908; he was the son of the late Antonio and Maria Gallo. Mr. Gallo earned an honorary High School Diploma from Walpole High School in 1987. He has been a lifelong resident of Walpole, Massachusetts.
Mr. Gallo was the founder of Gallo's Flowers and Greenhouses in Walpole, Massachusetts; where he worked from 1929-2003.
In 2003 he was awarded the Person of the Year by the Friends of Christopher Columbus in Walpole.
He was the inventor of several floral products and enjoyed gardening. He most especially enjoyed spending time with his family and his grandchildren.
Beloved husband of the late Perina A. (Gulla) Gallo. Loving father of the late Joseph C. Gallo and father in law of Pamela Gallo of Medfield. Cherished grandfather of Joseph C. Jr. and his wife Michele Gallo of Millis and Christopher P. Gallo and his wife Karen Adam of New York, NY; great grandfather of Joseph C. Gallo, III and John P. Gallo both of Millis. Brother of Nellie Gallo of Walpole. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial that will be celebrated at Blessed Sacrament Church on Wednesday, March 24, 2010 at 10:00 AM. Visiting hours are Tuesday, March 23, 2010 from 4-8PM in the James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home 48 Common Street Walpole. Interment will be in Saint Francis Cemetery Walpole, Massachusetts.
