Joseph P. Fuller, age 84, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 27, 2022, in his West Roxbury home, surrounded by his family after a valiant battle with cancer. Born in the South End of Boston, Massachusetts on June 9, 1938, he was the son of the late Albert and Mary Fuller. He was raised in the South End with his brother, Albert and sister, Maryann.
Joe married his beloved wife, Eileen M. Bethoney, on December 27, 1973, in Saint George's Orthodox Church in the South End, and together they made their home in West Roxbury, Massachusetts.
Joe was a dedicated employee for First Student Bus Company, remaining with the company through the Laidlaw buyout, and longtime member of the United Steel Workers Local 8751 Boston School Bus Drivers. Mr. Joe, as he was affectionately known as, safely delivered thousands of Boston Public School students to and from schools for 42 years. He received more than 12 awards during his tenure for outstanding service and safety, before his retirement in 2010. For anyone that knew Joe, knew that he appropriately fit his nickname “The Turtle” for his lower than average speed while driving.
During his retirement, Joe loved spending time with his family and making memories with them while playing Marco Polo at Hampton Beach, eating lobster in York, Maine, or trying his luck at the casino. Most of all, Joe was happiest being surrounded by his family, sharing a Sunday dinner.
Beloved husband of Eileen M. (Bethoney) Fuller.
Devoted son of the late Mary Koeppel and her husband, John, and the late Albert Fuller.
Loving brother of Maryann Dasaro and her husband, Jackie, of East Boston, and the late Albert Fuller.
Cherished brother-in-law of James Moses and his late wife, Donna, of Norfolk, Michael Bethoney and his wife, Jeanne, of Franklin, and the late Fred Bethoney.
