Joseph George Ferrara

April 16, 1921 — February 11, 2007

Mr. Joseph George Ferrara died in his Chaplin , Connecticut Home surrounded by his family on Sunday evening, February 11th, 2007. Born on April 16, 1921, in Norwood, Massachusetts, the son of the late Isadore & Martha (Pecarraro) Ferrara. A 1939 graduate of Norwood High School , he entered the United States Navy and served his country during World War II. He was a gunners mate first class, and saw action in the South Pacific.

A resident of Chaplin Connecticut since 1965, moving there with the Kendall Mills Company. He was a research scientist in the R& D Lab. He retired from Kendall in 1983 as a Senior Research Scientist, with just under 40 years of service.

A member of the VFW Post 5188 Walpole, the DAV Chapter 90 Norwood Life Member, the American Legion. One of the few remaining members of the Kamikaze Survior Group and the Tin Can Sailors Association. He was also a member of the Italian American Society Hall in Walpole.

Mr. Ferrara was a selectman in the Town of Chaplin (CT) and its First Selectman for 8 years.

Beloved husband of the late Ella (Caponi) Ferrara Loving father of J. Gregory & his wife Beverly Ferrara of Hiram, Georgia, and Peter E. & his wife Nancy Ferrara of Chalin, Connecticut cherished grandfather of Jay Ferrara of No. Scituate, Rhode Island and Shannon Ferrara of Chaplin, Connecticut brother of Anthony G. Ferrara of Carver, the late George , James, Nicholas, Mario, Frances Fahey, Salvatore, Rose Bendinelli , Santino and John. also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial that will be celebrated at Blessed Sacrament Church Rt 27 (East Street) @ Diamond Street Walpole on Friday Morning, February 16th, 2007 @ 10 am. Visiting hours are Thursday Afternoon from 4 pm to 8 pm in James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home 48 Common Street Walpole, Massachusetts . Interment Knollwood Memorial Park, Canton , Massachusetts. Memorial donations may be made to: Hospice of Eastern Connecticut/ Visiting Nurse Association East, 34 Ledgebrook Drive Mansfield, Connecticut 06250 .
