Joseph M. Eastlack, age 66, passed away peacefully in the Stanley Tippett House in Needham, Massachusetts on Saturday, April 21, 2018. Born in Northfield, New Jersey on December 3, 1951, he was the son of the late Merritt and Alva (Mathis) Eastlack. He was raised in New Jersey and graduated from Midland Park High School with the Class of 1969. Joseph continued his education at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, however his education was interrupted by his service in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He was stationed in Alaska and Louisiana, before his discharge. Upon his discharge, Joseph returned to UMass Amherst, earning his Bachelor's Degree in 1977.
After graduation, Joseph found work with the Information Technology Department of John Hancock. While at John Hancock, Joseph met his soon to be wife, Gail M. Lynch, by chance when he was out with friends. The young couple continued to date as Joseph took a position with the Kendall Company in Walpole and was later transferred to the Stream Company Division of Kendall. On September 8, 1984, Joseph and Gail were married in Saint Mary, Star of the Sea, Church in East Boston. They initially made their home together in East Boston, before settling in Walpole, Massachusetts in 1986, where they welcomed their daughter, Casey, and adopted their dog, Tasha. Most recently, Joseph worked in the IT department of Meditech.
In his spare time, Joseph was an avid slot car racer, spending time racing in Ashland, Hull, Rhode Island, and Connecticut as a long-time member of the MARC Racing Club. His love for racing continued at home as he enjoyed watching car reality shows and following Jeff Gordon in the NASCAR circuit. Joseph also enjoyed following the New England Patriots, watching them play every weekend in the fall. As an avid outdoorsman, Joseph loved fishing, both fly fishing in the local rivers and deep-sea fishing in the ocean.
More than anything, Joseph was a dedicated family man. He rented a house in Ocean City, New Jersey every summer to host a family reunion and was a regular with his family at Disney World. Joseph was honored to serve as the ring bearer for his niece, Jillian's, wedding and could always be found on the dance floor at every family event. Most of all, Joseph was incredibly proud of his daughter, Casey, and all of her accomplishments, including her graduation from Boston College.
