Joseph R. Costa

Joseph R. "Richie" Costa age 67 years died in the Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts on Thursday, June 20, 2013. Born in Boston, Massachusetts on September 7, 1945, he was the son of the late Joseph and Aggrapina (Gesimondo) Costa. He graduated from Medford High School with the class of 1963. After high school, he was drafted into the United States Army and served his country during the Vietnam War, where he earned the Purple Heart. After his return from the war, he graduated from Northeastern University in Boston. He has been a resident of Walpole, Massachusetts for the past 29 years moving from Medford.

Mr. Costa worked for the Boston VA Healthcare System for 38 years, retiring in 2011 as the Chief Financial Officer.

He enjoyed traveling and spending time at the beach. Most of all he loved spending time with his family.

Beloved husband of Marie E. (Lescault) Costa. Loving father of Caroline M. Costa and Daniel J. Costa both of Walpole and Renae Conrad of Texas. Brother of Ethel Lyman of Wilmington, Louis Costa of Sarasota, FL, and Charlotte Joyce of Medford. Also survived by many loving nieces, nephews cousins and friends.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial that will be celebrated at Saint Mary's Church 176 Washington Street East Walpole on Tuesday, June 25, 2013 at 10:00 AM. Visiting hours are Monday, June 24, 2013 from 4-8 PM in the James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home 48 Common Street Walpole. Interment will be in Saint Francis Cemetery in Walpole.
