John D. Vozzella, age 74, died in the Veterans Administration Hospital in West Roxbury, Massachusetts on Friday, June 27, 2014. Born in Boston, Massachusetts on August 17, 1939, he was the son of the late John D. and Helen (Palladino) Vozzella. He attended Saint Mary's High School in Brookline prior to enlisting in the United States Marine Corps. He proudly served his country in the Marine Corps for 2 years and was discharged in 1958. He earned his High School Diploma from Saint Mary's High School in 1959. He later graduated from Boston State College with the class of 1986 and attended New England Law School. He has been a resident of Walpole, Massachusetts for the past 25 years moving from Franklin.
John owned and operated Neighborhood Insurance in Franklin for 40 years. He retired in 2004. As a strong member of the community in Franklin, he volunteered his time at the Voting Polls for all the elections. After moving to Walpole, he continued his civic duties by becoming a member of the Democratic Town Committee.
In addition, John was a member of the 4th Degree of the Knights of Columbus and was a State Trustee and Past President of the Sons of Italy. He enjoyed spending his spare time playing golf, horseshoes, and spending time in Florida during the winter months.
Beloved husband of Elizabeth A. (Cheney) Vozzella. Loving father of Susanna Vozzella of Waltham, Russell Vozzella of Palm Springs, CA, Lorraine Vozzella of Chelsea, Erin Vozzella of Walpole, Jillian Morley of Walpole, and John D. Vozzella, III of Walpole. Cherished grandfather of Christina and Brian.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend John's Life Celebration on Tuesday, July 1, 2014 from 4-8 PM and Wednesday, July 2, 2014 from 9-9:30 AM in the James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home, 48 Common Street, Walpole. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Blessed Sacrament Church, 10 Diamond Street, Walpole on Wednesday, July 2, 2014 at 10:00 AM. Interment will be in Saint Francis Cemetery in Walpole. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Lymphoma Society, Donor Services, P.O. Box 4072, Pittsfield, MA 01202.
