John W. Sutphin, Jr., age 83, died in the Harrington House Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Walpole, Massachusetts on Friday, June 5, 2015. Born in Norwood, Massachusetts on April 4, 1932, he was the son of the late John W. and Margaret (Lavin) Sutphin. He was raised in Westwood, Massachusetts and attended Westwood Public Schools. John proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged in 1954 after serving with the 728th Aircraft Control and Warning Squadron. After his discharge, John returned to his home in Westwood.
John married the love of his life, Evelyn A. Obuchon in 1958. They initially made their home in Hyde Park, then moved to Norwood. Finally in 1961, they settled in Walpole, Massachusetts.
Just prior to moving to Walpole in 1959, John earned his journeyman electrician license. He retired as a master electrician working at the Deaconess Hospital in Boston in 1996, after 17 years of dedicated service.
John enjoyed reading; traveling, especially to Maine; and loved following the Boston Red Sox.
Beloved husband of the late Evelyn A. (Obuchon) Sutphin.
Loving father of Kevin P. Sutphin of Walpole.
Brother of the late Catherine A. Sutphin.
Cherished uncle of James Park of Canton and Julie Gortze of North Attleboro and great uncle of 3 nieces and 1 nephew.
