John Henry Stanton, age 86, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 18, 2020 in the Ruth McLain Hospice House in Braintree, Massachusetts. Born in Boston, Massachusetts on January 11, 1934, he was the son of Michael and Margaret (Murphy) Stanton. He was raised in West Roxbury and graduated from Boston English High School with the Class of 1952.
John married his beloved wife, Joyce Elaine Bowley, on May 12, 1956, in Saint John's Church in West Roxbury. Together, they made their home in West Roxbury, and John took position with Mooney and Company in Holliston, working as a sales representative. In 1960, John moved his young family out of the big city, settling in the small town of Walpole, Massachusetts. John continued his career with Mooney and Company for 26 years, serving as the sales manager before taking a new position with Anheuser-Bush in Medford. He continued to call on his customers for an additional eight years, before his retirement in 1993.
Just after his retirement, John and Joyce packed their home up and moved to Cape Cod, spending a year in Cotuit before making their home in Mashpee. They enjoyed their time on Cape Cod, however, in 2002, as John and Joyce decided to return to Walpole, taking some time to be closer to their family. Back in Walpole, John found his "coffee crew" and as he and his friends were all admirers of antique cars, they made the bi-weekly journey to Bass Pro Shop in Foxborough to enjoy the Thursday Cruise Night. John enjoyed some quiet time too, picking up a good book or relaxing listening to his favorite music. Most of all, John was a dedicated family man, who loved being surrounded by those he loved so dearly. It is said that true love is inexhaustible, the more you give, the more you have; John took this idea to heart after his beloved wife, Joyce, became ill. He spent every day with her, compassionately caring for her every need, and was always willing to put in the extra effort whenever he could.

As a result of the ongoing and ever-developing health crisis in the world and with genuine concern for the people whom they love, John’s family has decided that his funeral services will be private, with interment taking place in Saint Mary's Cemetery in Foxborough.
