John Francis Power Jr. (affectionately called “Jack” by all who knew and loved him), age 84, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 2, 2023, at his son's home in Winter Garden, Florida, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Boston, Massachusetts on March 25, 1938, he was the son of the late John F. and Catherine (Hayden) Power. He was raised in West Roxbury, Massachusetts, where he graduated from Roslindale High School with the Class of 1955. Following his graduation, Jack enlisted in the United States Army Reserve, proudly serving his country while pursuing his bachelor’s degree at Northeastern College. Later, Jack continued his education completing his master’s degree in chemical engineering.
Jack married his beloved wife, Diane Gay, on October 5, 1963, at Saint Theresa's Church in West Roxbury. Together they made their home in Dedham, Massachusetts before settling in East Walpole, Massachusetts. Jack's career brought him to FM Global in Norwood, Massachusetts, where he served as a chemical engineer, working in the chemical plant fire and explosion protection division. During his long career he was very proud of his travels / adventures all over the globe. His travels included over 30 countries across 5 continents.
Jack was very likely the biggest Celtics fan the franchise ever had. He was recognized several times, center court, as the “Super Fan” and proudly maintained season tickets for more than 40 years.
Jack was an avid runner and athlete his entire life with notable achievements including a Boston Marathon, several triathlons, countless local road races and an incredible 40 times running the Falmouth Road Race

Loving father of John J. Power and his wife, Susie, of Plymouth, Deborah A. Tyree and her husband, Pete, of Port Saint John, Florida and Michael C. Power and his wife, Dana, of Winter Garden, Florida.
Cherished grandfather of Jesse Power, Katie Power, Holly Ryba, Chris Tyree, Michael Tyree, Holly Power, Jack Power, and Morgan Power.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend Jack's Life Celebration on Friday, February 10, 2023, from 4 to 7 PM in the James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home, 48 Common Street, Walpole.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Saint Mary's Church, 176 Washington Street, East Walpole on Saturday, February 11, 2023, at 10:30 AM. Interment will follow in Mount Benedict Cemetery in West Roxbury.
