John J. Murphy, Jr. “Murph”, age 61, died in the Brigham & Women’s Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts on Tuesday, September 9, 2014. Born in Norwood, Massachusetts on May 24, 1953, he was the son of the late John J. and Cecilia M. (Macauley) Murphy. He graduated from Norwood High School with the class of 1971. Known as XL in his high school days, John both wrestled and played football. He continued his education at Boston State College, graduating with the class of 1975 with his degree in Criminal Justice.
