John R. McKeon

John R. McKeon, III, age 53, died in the Norwood Hospital in Norwood, Massachusetts on Wednesday, April 30, 2014. Born in Brooklyn, New York on July 29, 1960, he moved to Needham, Massachusetts at the age of 14. He graduated from Boston College High School with the class of 1978 and went on to attend the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. John proudly graduated from UMass at Amherst with the class of 2013, along side his son John IV. While in high school, John worked at Callahan’s Steak House in Newton, which is where his interest in restaurants began. He spent his career as a restaurant manager for 35 years, working for various companies including TGI Friday's, Bugaboo Creek, The Ground Round, Chili’s, and Bertucci’s.

In October of 1982, John met his wife Therisa at the Bull and Finch Pub in Boston. They were married in 1989, and have been living in East Walpole for the past 18 years.

In addition to working as a restaurant manager, he also served as a restaurant compliance officer for the City of Somerville and the City of Cambridge for the past 7 years.

John was an avid sports fan and could recall the stats of any team. He passed this trait along to his boys and would love taking them with his wife to different sporting events and concerts. He was most proud of his two boys, John and Michael and all of their accomplishments. John was very connected to his extended family and looked forward to his yearly trip to see them at Breezy Point in New York. He had become the family historian and would bring photos of the family that he found to every family event. He will be remembered as the life of the party and for his great sense of humor.

Beloved husband of Therisa A. (Gordon) McKeon. Loving father of John R. McKeon, IV of East Walpole and Michael K. McKeon of East Walpole. Devoted son of Frances (Quinn) McKeon of Needham and the late John R. McKeon, Jr. Brother of Margaret "Peggy" and her husband Stewart Marscher of Needham and Susan and her husband Dale Salmonese of New Milford, CT. Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend John’s Life Celebration on Sunday, May 4, 2014 from 3-7 PM and Monday, May 5, 2014 from 8-8:30 AM in the James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home, 48 Common Street, Walpole. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Saint Mary’s Church, 176 Washington Street, East Walpole on Monday, May 5, 2014 at 9:00 AM. Interment will be in Saint Mary’s Cemetery in Needham. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the McKeon Educational Fund c/o Sharon Credit Union, 2 Union Street, East Walpole, MA 02032.
