John E. Kelly

July 19, 1925 — May 3, 2013

John E. Kelly age 87 years died in the Norwood Hospital in Norwood, Massachusetts on Friday, May 3, 2013. Born in Fall River, Massachusetts on July 19, 1925, he was the son of the late Edward T. and Gertrude H. (Haines) Kelly. He graduated from Coyle Catholic High School in Taunton and went on to graduate from Suffolk University. Mr. Kelly proudly served his country in the United States Navy during World War II. He has been a resident of Medfield, Massachusetts for the past 57 years moving there from Beacon Hill.

Mr. Kelly worked as a teacher, beginning his career in the Holliston Public School System moving on to the Hopkinton and later the Boston Public School Systems. He then went on to teach in the Longfellow School in Cambridge and retired in 1995 as the Assistant Headmaster.

He was a member of the Massachusetts Teachers Association and the Medfield Conservation Commision. Most of all, Mr. Kelly loved spending time with his family.

Beloved husband of Margaret D. (Dickson) Kelly. Loving father of John E. Kelly, Jr. of VT, Pat D. Kelly of RI, Stephen H. Kelly of Medfield, and Katherine H. Stano of Rutland. Cherished grandfather of Michelle, Stacey, Shawn, Kristina, Sophia, and Dominick. Brother of Margaret T. Boyko of Somerset, Gertrude Kelly of Fall River, the late Edward T. Kelly, and the late Barbara Daley.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend the visiting hours on Thursday, May 9, 2013 from 4-7 PM in the James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home 48 Common Street Walpole. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Saint Edward the Confessor Church 133 Spring Street (Route 27) Medfield on Friday, May 10, 2013 at 10:00 AM. Interment will be private at the request of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to: American Cancer Society 30 Speen Street Framingham, MA 01701.
