John Anthony Jostin, 83 of Foxboro, former longtime resident of Norfolk, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Sunday, February 19th, 2017.
Born on November 7, 1933 in Norwood, Massachusetts, he was the son of the late Elmer Jostin and Mary Hennessey Jostin. He was the Loving husband of Dolores LaRocca Jostin for the past 60 years.
John attended St. Catherine's School in Norwood, then the Norfolk Agricultural School in Walpole before enlisting in the United States Navy. John was a Korean War Veteran serving on the USS Hancock, where he was extremely proud of his service.
In addition to his wife he is survived by his beloved children, Stephen Jostin and Diana Jostin MacNeil of Wrentham and Debra Jostin Macdonald and her husband Mark of Wrentham. Two cherished grandchildren, Rebecca Macdonald Randazzo and her husband Paul of Wethersfield CT and Timothy Macdonald and his wife Katelin of Norfolk. His grandchildren were his pride and joy. John leaves his three great grandchildren Julianna Brooke Randazzo, Gabriel John Randazzo and Liam John Macdonald along with several close nieces and nephews who considered him a father figure as well. He was the brother of Carol Meears of Norwood MA.
For over 30 years John was the owner of Norfolk Petroleum Products. He enjoyed calling on his customers and making deliveries to them. Even after selling his business he continued working at it for many more years. After retiring John could be found at 5:30 a.m. at several Dunkin Donuts locations having coffee and scratching lottery tickets with his cronies. Some of his best times were down The Barn stripping wire and hanging out with the guys. Weekends he could be found either boating on The Salty Dog or quahogging, both in Waquoit Bay. He enjoyed many hours along the Cape Cod Canal watching the "amateurs" as he called them launch their boats and seeing the fishing boats return with their daily catches and unload. John was a people person and everyone who met him instantly loved him. He made many friends along the way. He will be dearly missed by all that knew him.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend John's Life Celebration on Friday from 4-7 PM and Saturday from 10:30-11 AM in the James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home, 48 Common Street, Walpole. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Saint Jude Church, 86 Main Street, Norfolk on Saturday at 11:30 AM.
