John W. Daley, age 79, passed away in the Norwood Hospital in Norwood, Massachusetts on Sunday, September 13, 2015. Born in Boston, Massachusetts on June 10, 1936, he was the son of the late Daniel and Margaret (Walsh) Daley. He was raised in Boston and attended Boston Catholic Schools. After high school, John proudly served his country in the United States Navy as a radio operator in the Philippines, just after the end of the Korean War.
Upon his return home, he earned a position with the First National Bank of Boston, where he met his soon to be wife, Norma L. Gustafson. John and Norma were married on September 25, 1962. He continued with the Bank through various name changes, eventually becoming the Branch Manager of Bank of America at Brigham Circle in Boston. John retired in 1996 with over 35 years of dedicated service.
After his retirement, John settled in Walpole to help take care of his grandchildren, Daniel and Erin. He enjoyed being involved with them, from taking them to school and practices to watching all of their games and events. He also loved spending time with his sisters, taking trips to Foxwoods and Twin River, going out to eat, and attending family reunions.
John was an avid reader and enjoyed walking at the Walpole Mall. He was very generous with his time, and took care of his aging friends, giving them rides to doctors appointments.
