John Cuoco, Jr., 89, passed away peacefully on Thursday March 31, 2022, at the HopeHealth Hulitar Center in Providence, RI surrounded by his loving family. Born in East Boston, Massachusetts on November 2, 1932, he was the son of the late John and Elvira (Capone) Cuoco. Raised in East Boston, he graduated from The English High School with the class of 1950.
He attended college and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree from Boston College and a Master’s degree from Northeastern University. Serving in the Army and Reserves, he was honorably discharged in 1961. He was a dedicated math teacher from 1958 - 1998 at Medfield High School, where he was beloved by both his students and fellow teachers, as they found humor in his uncanny resemblance to TV personality Barney Miller. Many of his fellow teachers became his dearest lifelong friends. At Medfield High School, he served as Chairman of the Math Department, Director of Adult Education, Cross Country Track Coach, and President of the Medfield Teachers Association.
John married Constance “Connie” Bradley in 1956 and set up their loving home in Walpole, MA. They enjoyed traveling and visited Europe, the Caribbean, Rio de Janeiro, Hawaii, Alaska, and more. His children have vivid memories of camping during summer breaks and traveling across the country in 1976 with their camper to visit many National Parks. In retirement, he and Connie loved their second home in Jupiter, Florida where John enjoyed golf and helping coordinate social activities with the many beloved friends in their retirement community. They spent many of their days in Florida relaxing on the beach and watching the boats at Jupiter Inlet, and looked forward to their children and grandchildrens’ visits.
John’s love for his immediate and extended family was endless and gathering with them brought him the greatest joy. He worked tirelessly with his siblings to keep the Cuoco extended family together, helping coordinate many memorable annual Christmas and summertime gatherings. When several of his children bought summer homes on Frye Island, Maine, he and Connie visited the island often and loved sitting on the beach watching their grandchildren play. John also had a passion for cooking and no one will forget his delicious tomato sauce and lasagna. His grandchildren loved helping him make his signature homemade pizza for every family gathering. Christmas Eve was among his favorite family celebrations of the year and his tradition of shrimp scampi, lobsters, and baked stuffed shrimp continues on.
He is survived by his loving wife Constance Ann Cuoco (Bradley), his daughter Kathleen MacKinnon and husband Wayne of Attleboro, his three sons John (Jack) and his wife Kathi (Savage) of Northborough, Christopher and his wife Rebecca (Cole) of Wrentham, Gregory and his wife Cheryl (Hurley) of Wrentham. He is also survived by his loving grandchildren Nicholas MacKinnon, Lauren Andes, Michael Cuoco, Andrew MacKinnon, Ericka Cuoco, Julia Cuoco, Alicia Cuoco, Isabella Cuoco and nine great grandchildren. John is also survived by his brother Robert Cuoco and his wife Carol, sister Lorraine Preveza and her husband Louis.
