John J. Connolly

John J. Connolly, 84 a longtime resident of Walpole, formerly of Dorchester died November 14, 2011, peacefully at his home surrounded by family , after a courageous battle with cancer.

Beloved husband of 50 years of the late Mary E. (Brennan) Connolly Loving father of John M. and his wife Eleanor Connolly of Canton, Patricia A. and her husband Terrence Oakley of Montgomery Village, Maryland, Rita M. Connolly of Walpole and James M. and his wife Stacy Connolly of Walpole. Cherished grandfather of Michaela Oakley,Terrence "Bud" Oakley of Montgomery Village, Maryland, Kate Connolly of Canton, Kayla Connolly and Keri Connolly of Walpole Brother of Bridget A. McIntyre of Melrose, Martin F. and his wife Judith Connolly of Quincy. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. Son of the late Martin and Bridget (Nee) Connolly.

He proudly served his country during World War II in the United States Army in Korea. He was a graduate of Northeastern University, Class of 1960.

John worked over 40 years with the US Navy and US Customs Service.

In his retirement, he enjoyed traveling, golfing, horseshoes, and spending time with his family. He was an avid Boston sports fan.

Funeral from the James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home 48 Common Street, WALPOLE on Friday, November 18, 2011 at 9:00 AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Blessed Sacrament Church East Street (Route 27) at Diamond Street Walpole at 10:00 AM. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Visiting hours are Thursday, November 17, 2011 from 4pm to 8pm. Interment will be in Saint Francis Cemetery Walpole.
