John E. Broderick

John E. Broderick, age 73, passed away on Monday, January 23, 2023, at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Needham, Massachusetts.  Born in Boston, Massachusetts on December 16, 1949, he was the son of the late Thomas A. and Clara (Callo) Broderick.  He was raised in the West Roxbury neighborhood of Boston, playing both little league and hockey, and attending both Boston English and Boston Latin High Schools prior to his graduation.

After high school, John took a position with Color Picture Publishers in Jamaica Plain, where he met his wife to be, Elaine F. Anagnos.  John and Elaine were married on October 26, 1975, at Blessed Sacrament Church in Jamaica Plain.  They made their first home together in Norwood, Massachusetts, and John began his bartending career at a bowling alley in West Roxbury.  A few years later, in 1978, he and Elaine settled in Walpole, Massachusetts and John went on to take a position at Sammy White's in both West Roxbury and Brighton, tending bar.  After years of commuting into the city, John found his position at Workman's Hall in Norwood, first as a bartender and later as the manager.

Throughout his life, John was an avid Boston sports fan, catching his favorite teams when they played on television.  He kept and maintained a vast collection of baseball trading cards, ensuring he had all his favorite players stats on hand.  As a young boy, he spent some time at Charles River Country Club, working as a caddy, learning the game of golf.  Later in life, he enjoyed watching the professionals on the PGA Tour, reminiscing about his days at the country club.  Most of all, John loved spending time with his wife, Elaine.  Together they took many cruises to Bermuda and looked forward to various other trips throughout the country and the Caribbean.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend John's visitation on Monday, January 30, 2023, from 4 to 7 PM in the James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home, 48 Common Street, Walpole.

All are invited to gather in the funeral home on Tuesday, January 31, 2023, at 11:00 AM, prior to departing for Saint Francis Cemetery, where a graveside service will be held.
