John R. "Jack" Bouchard, 89, of Naples, FL (formerly of Marco Island, FL and Barnstable, MA) passed away peacefully on November 3, 2016. Born June 27, 1927 in Norwood, MA, he was the son of Nelson and Diana (Lamore) Bouchard. Jack enlisted in the Naval Air Corps in 1945, immediately following high school graduation. After his honorable discharge from military service, he completed his Engineering Degree at Northeastern University in Boston MA, class of 1953.
Initial jobs with Sperry Gyroscope and Minneapolis-Honeywell were followed by a career of over 30 years working with Northrop Corporation in Norwood, MA. He retired in 1988 as Vice-President of Inertial Instruments. Throughout his career he designed guidance systems and worked on those used in the space program including lunar missions, The Peacekeeper (MX) Missile, Patriot Missile, Tomahawk Missile, and atomic submarines. Jack was very proud of his efforts to keep America safe.
During his retirement years on Cape Cod and Marco Island he enjoyed golfing, fishing and spending time with his cherished 13 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. He was a member of The Marco Bay Yacht Club, The Marco Island Men's Club, and The Island Country Club of Marco Island.
Jack is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Phyllis (McKeever) Bouchard, his sons Paul of Williamsburg, MA, Rick of Sagamore, MA, and Glen of Petion-Ville, HAITI, his daughters Cheri Jardine and husband Jim of Norton, MA and Sue Will and husband Cary of Canton, MA, his sister Joan (Tom) Collins of Norwood, MA, and many loved nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Barbara (Jack) Mulvehill also of Norwood, MA.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend Jack's Life Celebration that will be held on Saturday, November 19th in the James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home, 48 Common St, Walpole, MA from 9 - 11 AM, followed by funeral service. Interment with military honors will follow the service in Highland Cemetery, Norwood, MA.
