Joan R. Nolan

Joan R. (Bernard) Nolan age 68 years died in her Norwood, Massachusetts home on September 27, 2008 surrounded by her children after a lengthy and courageous fight with cancer. She was born in Springfield, Massachusetts on February 17, 1940 to her parents the late J. Francis and Rose (Cappadona) Bernard. She graduated from Saint Joseph's Academy in Roxbury with the class of 1958. She had been living in Norwood for the past 14 years, but called West Roxbury her home for over 28 years.

She worked for Roche Brothers in Westwood for over 10 years and volunteered at Caritas Norwood Hospital for 10 years.

Beloved wife of the late James V. Nolan Loving mother of Richard F. and his wife Jeanne Nolan of Norwood, Linda M. and her husband Mark McGrath Walpole, Laura A. and her husband Reynold Spadoni of Walpole, and Karen J. and her husband James McCarthy of Norfolk. Cherished grandmother of Stephen, Michelle, and Kevin Nolan, James and John McGrath, Nicole, Stephanie and Joseph Spadoni, and Megan, Matthew, and Michael McCarthy. Sister of Marilyn and her husband Joseph McVane of Norwood and Diane A. Bernard of Norwood.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial that will be celebrated in Blessed Sacrament Church Diamond Street at East Street (Route 27) Walpole on Wednesday, October 1, 2008 at 11AM. Visiting hours are Tuesday September 30, 2008 from 4-8PM in the James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home 48 Common Street Walpole. Interment in Saint Joseph's Cemetery West Roxbury.
