Joan L. (Proctor) Keating, age 94, passed away in the Hellenic Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Canton, Massachusetts on Monday, October 1, 2018. Born in East Walpole, Massachusetts on June 20, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Everett and Katherine (Howe) Proctor. She was raised in East Walpole and graduated from Walpole High School with the Class of 1942. After graduation, Joan worked various jobs before starting her family
Joan welcomed her daughter, Kay, in 1950 and later, her son, Ken, in 1957. She returned to school at Katherine Gibbs in Boston in 1960 to obtain a better job to support her family. Joan eventually took an administrative assistant's position at Cumberland Farms in Canton, where she worked for 20 years, before her retirement in 1991.
On any given day, Joan could be found traveling around her beloved Town of Walpole in her Chevy Malibu, listening to her favorite swing style cassette tapes. She would frequent the Walpole Senior Center to participate in a game of Bingo or create a new calendar for her close friends. Most of all, Joan was dedicated to her family and as a proud mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, she loved knitting various projects for all to enjoy.
Loving mother of Kenneth A. Keating and his wife Mary Beth of Foxborough and the late Kay Louise Campion and her surviving husband, Paul, of Holbrook.
Cherished grandmother of Christina, Michele, Lisa, Meghan, Erin, and Brendan and great grandmother of 7.
Sister of Barbara Proctor of East Walpole and the late Everett Proctor, Jr.
Also survived by her niece, Mary Proctor Griffin of Walpole.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend Joan's Life Celebration on Wednesday, October 3, 2018 from 4 to 7 PM at the James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home, 48 Common Street, Walpole. A Funeral Home Service will be held on Thursday, October 4, 2018 at 11:30 AM. Interment will follow in Saint Francis Cemetery in Walpole.
