Jennie M. Spoon

July 7, 1938 — December 31, 2019

Jennie M. (Peterson) Spoon, age 81, passed away in the Beaumont Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Northbridge, Massachusetts on Tuesday, December 31, 2019.  Born in Boston, Massachusetts on July 7, 1938, she was the daughter of the late William and Mary (Morganti) Peterson.  She was raised in Florida and South Carolina before returning to Boston at the age of 15, where she completed her formal education.

Jennie married her beloved husband, Vito T. Spoon, on November 28, 1959 in Dorchester.  The young couple made their home together in Roslindale, where Jennie took on the role of a homemaker, raising and caring for her young family.  After many years in the city, Jennie moved to Sutton, Massachusetts in 2013 and lived near her daughter and son-in-law.

Throughout her life, Jennie had an eye for fashion.  She loved taking her shopping trips, finding the latest style and trends in the local stores.  The new outfits were always modeled for her husband when they went out for dinner.  Back at home, Jennie enjoyed cooking for her family, listening and singing along to her favorite music, and was a whiz with her sewing skills, often creating clothes for her daughters’ Barbie dolls.

Beloved wife of the late Vito T. Spoon.
Loving mother of Andrea Spoon and her husband, Gerry Creiger, of Sutton, Valerie DeVincentis and her husband, Jim, of Weymouth, and Jean Calisi and her husband, John, of Walpole.
Cherished grandmother of Samantha, Antonia, Jacqueline, Barbara, Giovanni, Sondra, and Gianna.
Sister of Jeanette Cardillo of Milton, Margaret Cogliano of West Roxbury, the late Marie Irby, the late Carol Pryor, and the late John Morganti.
Also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend Jennie’s visitation on Monday, January 6, 2020 from 9 to 10:30 AM in the James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home, 48 Common Street, Walpole.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Blessed Sacrament Church, 10 Diamond Street, Walpole on Monday, January 6, 2020 at 11:00 AM.  Interment will follow in Saint Joseph’s Cemetery in West Roxbury.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Jennie’s name may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 309 Waverley Oaks Road, Waltham, MA 02452.
