Jeanne M. Peavey

Jeanne M. Peavey, age 93, passed away on Sunday, August 27, 2023, at Briarwood Rehabilitation and Healthcare in Needham, Massachusetts.  Born in Norwood, Massachusetts on January 20, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Lillian (Coughlin) Cronin.  Jeanne was raised in East Walpole, Massachusetts, where she attended Walpole High School.  At a young age, Jeanne began working at the restaurant attached to Bird and Son, the Greasy Spoon, to help support her family. 

Jeanne married her beloved husband, Burton N. "Pete" Peavey, on October 9, 1954, at Saint Mary's Church in East Walpole.  The couple made their home together in Walpole, welcoming three children, Robert, Linda, and Cynthia.  Jeanne transitioned to the role of a homemaker, raising and caring for her young family.  As her children grew up, Jeanne returned to her working career, taking a position with Betro's Pharmacy in Walpole center.  She cared for the pharmacy's customers for many years, well into her 70s.

Throughout her life, Jeanne loved to shop, always on the lookout for the best deals, whether in a store or at a neighborhood yard sale.  No shopping extravaganza was ever complete without a tasty meal with friends at a local restaurant.  Back at home, Jeanne enjoyed working in the gardens around her house, ensuring each one was meticulously planned and cared for.  The inside of her home was always filled with love, as she took in many dogs and cats over the years.  Most of all, Jeanne loved spending time with her family.  She looked forward to gathering with her siblings and loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Loving mother of Robert B. Peavey and his wife, Lynn, of Webster, Linda M. Peavey-Fonseca of Walpole, and Cynthia J. Blowers and her husband, Matthew, of Norfolk.

Cherished grandmother of David Blowers and Sophie Blowers both of Norfolk.

Mother-in-law of Bob Fonseca of Foxborough.

Sister of June McCarthy of East Walpole, the late Gerald Cronin, the late Shirley Daniels, the late Marjorie Rooney, the late Pat Jenks, the late Leo Cronin, and the late Lillian Gianetti.

Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend Jeanne's visitation on Tuesday, September 5, 2023, from 10:30 AM to 12:00 Noon in the James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home, 48 Common Street, Walpole.

A Funeral Home Service will be held on Tuesday, September 5, 2023, at 12:00 Noon and interment will follow in Saint Francis Cemetery in Walpole.
