Janet N. Hurd, age 81, passed away on Saturday, June 12, 2021 at the Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton, Massachusetts. Born in Norwood, Massachusetts on February 9, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Sirkka (Rindell) Anderson. She was raised in Walpole, Massachusetts, where she graduated from Walpole High School with the Class of 1957. Janet continued her education, earning her certificate from the Chandler School of Business in Norwood in 1959.
Janet married her beloved husband, Allan R. Hurd, on October 13, 1965 in Hampton, New Hampshire. The young couple made their home together in Walpole, where Janet took on the role of a homemaker, raising and caring for her two sons, Scott and Arthur. After her boys had grown up, Janet took a secretarial position with Manheim New England Auto Auction, just off Route 1 in Walpole. She stayed with Manheim through their move to North Dighton, transitioning into a part-time role until her retirement in 2000.
Throughout her life, Janet loved playing various games, including word games, such as scrabble; completing jigsaw puzzles; and playing dominoes with friends. She enjoyed trying her luck with the Lottery and enjoyed the occasional trip to the casinos in Connecticut. Most of all, Janet loved being surrounded by her family. She looked forward to family cookouts, notably the Third of July in Walpole; and was always eager to attend the big family Christmas Eve party.
