Janet Louise (Golding) Avery, age 74, passed away on Thursday, February 23, 2023, at her home in Walpole, Massachusetts. Born in Norwood, Massachusetts on January 5, 1949, she was the daughter of the late Harrison J. and Eleanor L. (Cannon) Golding. She was raised in East Walpole, Massachusetts and graduated from Walpole High School with the Class of 1967. During her senior year at Walpole High School, Janet began her career with FM Global in Norwood, through a work study program, setting the foundation for her position with the company.
Janet married her beloved husband, John James Avery, on September 5, 1970, at the Union Congregational Church in East Walpole. The young couple made their home together in Walpole, welcoming two children, Jennifer and John. Janet's career continued with FM Global, working her way up to the position of Account Coordinator before her retirement in 2015.
Throughout her life, Janet enjoyed spending a day perusing through local shops and country stores, looking for the perfect item to bring home. More recently, she began shopping virtually, checking out all that Amazon had to offer. As a result of her shopping extravaganzas, Janet's home was well decorated for any upcoming holiday. After a long day of visiting stores, Janet looked forward to a night out with friends checking out a local restaurant, sampling the menu.
More than anything, Janet was devoted to her family, treasuring the time spent with those she loved so much. She and her husband, John, traveled extensively throughout New England, stopping to admire all the covered bridges they came across. Janet enjoyed hosting and attending family holidays and get togethers throughout her life. She was delighted at the birth of her grandchildren, spending countless hours with Ben, Ally, Jack, and Harrison, supporting them in all of their activities.
Beloved wife of the late John James Avery.
Loving mother of Jennifer L. Buchanan of Franklin and John H. "Jack" Avery and his wife, Stephanie, of Wrentham.
Cherished grandmother of Ben, Ally, Jack, and Harrison.
Also survived by her many loving extended family members.
