Jane Patricia (Griffin) Russau passed away on Wednesday, July 29, 2015 surrounded by her family at Massachusetts General Hospital from complications of leukemia. Born on September 22, 1935 in Walpole, Massachusetts, she was raised in Norwood and was one of six children born to the late William T. and Anna L. (Dean) Griffin. She attended Saint Catherine's School before graduating from Norwood High School with the Class of 1953 and later graduated from the Henry O. Peabody School.
Jane married the love of her life, Gene A. Russau in Saint Mary's Church in East Walpole on June 1, 1958 and in 1969, Jane and Gene settled in Millis, Massachusetts.
She thoroughly enjoyed serving the people of Walpole during her 47 years at the Walpole Public Library, retiring in July 2015. She found time to serve at the Framingham Public Library for the last 15 years as well, part time.
Jane was a giving, vibrant, joyful, funny woman who loved flowering plants, European travel, books of all kinds, good food, animals and helping others.
Jane is survived by her husband, Gene A. Russau, USN Retired, of Millis, MA and her only daughter, Anna L. Russau, VMD, of Virginia.
Interment will take place privately in Highland Cemetery in Norwood, MA. Donations, in lieu of flowers, may be made to the Central Virginia Horse Rescue, 389 Boydton Plank Road, Brodnax, VA 23920 in her honor. www.centralvahorserescue.com. Arrangements by James H.
