James William Mailman, age 76, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 25, 2023, at his home in Norfolk, Massachusetts, with his loving family by his side. Born in Bangor, Maine on January 19, 1947, he was the son of the late William A. and Phyllis L. (Caldwell) Mailman. Jim was raised in Danforth, Maine, where he graduated from Danforth High School with the Class of 1965. Following his graduation, Jim enlisted in the United States Army, proudly serving his country during the Vietnam War. He was stationed stateside in Massachusetts, completing his duty at the Natick Labs.
Upon his honorable discharge in August of 1968, Jim returned home and began his career as a truck driver. As an independent driver, Jim hauled for Sunbird Trucking out of East Walpole for many years. One morning, while getting his coffee at the Dunkin Donuts next door to Sunbird, Jim met his wife to be, Mary A. Kenney. Jim and Mary were married two years later on May 21, 1988, at Blessed Sacrament Church in Walpole. The couple made their home in Walpole for many years before settling in Norfolk in 2007.
Jim's love for trucking easily translated into vintage cars and pickup trucks. Jimmy loved working on his vehicles and adding extra lights. Throughout his life, Jim always had a soft spot for animals, welcoming many cats and dogs into his home over the years.
