James R. Mackenzie, age 86, passed away in the Norwood Hospital in Norwood, Massachusetts on Wednesday, November 14, 2018. Born in his parent’s home in East Walpole, Massachusetts on September 17, 1932, he was the son of the late James R. and Lillian T. (Maki) Michenzie. He spent his early years in East Walpole before his family settled in Walpole.
Jim attended Walpole Public Schools and quickly found work at Kendall Mills, taking a custodian’s position. After Kendall closed its doors, Jim took a janitorial position with the Howard Johnson’s on Route 1 in Walpole. Throughout his working career, Jim could be found riding his three wheeled cycle all over town.
As a devoted New England sports fan, Jim loved having lively conversations about the Patriots and Red Sox. He also enjoyed listening to country music and watching old movies. More recently, he found his skill for Bingo, frequently winning during the weekly games. Most of all, Jim loved being surrounded by his friends and family and while life created some challenges for him, he always maintained a positive outlook.
Devoted son of the late James R. and Lillian T. (Maki) Michenzie.
Loving brother of Rose Giordano of Mansfield and her late husband Frank, Dorothy Dalton and her husband Paul of Dover, Barbara Murray and her husband Pete of East Walpole, Priscilla DeVautour of Spring, Texas and her late husband Robert, Lillian McNulty and her husband James of Chatham, Beverly Norwell and her husband Jack of Walpole, Edward Michenzie of Norwood, and the late Eileen Hamlin.
Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend Jim’s visitation on Sunday, November 18, 2018 from 2 to 5 PM and Monday, November 19, 2018 from 9 to 9:30 AM in the James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home, 48 Common Street, Walpole. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Blessed Sacrament Church, 10 Diamond Street, Walpole on Monday, November 19, 2018 at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow in Knollwood Memorial Park in Canton. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Eileen M.
