James M. Kennedy age 79 years died in his Walpole, Massachusetts home on Sunday, October 2, 2011. Born in Curry, County Sligo, Ireland on November 23, 1931; he was the son of the late James and Ellen (Dunne) Kennedy. He was raised and educated in Ireland. Mr. Kennedy came from Ireland to New York on September 23, 1959. He has been a resident of Walpole, Massachusetts since 1971 moving there from Hyde Park, Massachusetts.
Mr. Kennedy worked as a plumber and was a member of the Plumber Union Local 12 in Boston.
In addition, he was a member of the Norwood Irish Music Club, the Irish Cultural Center of New England in Canton, the Irish Pastoral Center, and the Knights of Columbus Walpole Council 1319.
Beloved husband of the late Kathleen Ann (Hannon) Kennedy. Loving father of James A. Kennedy of Providence, Kathleen Melish of Foxboro and Margaret Kennedy-LoRusso of Walpole. Cherished grandfather of Nicole, Michael, Courtney, Lauren, Meredith and Ryan. Brother of Margaret Whelan of Pelham, NH, Evelyn Gill of W. Roxbury, the late Michael J. Kennedy and the late John Kennedy. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial that will be celebrated at Blessed Sacrament Church East Street (Route 27) at Diamond Street Walpole on Thursday, October 6, 2011 at 11:30AM. Visiting hours are Wednesday, October 5, 2011 from 4PM to 8PM in the James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home 48 Common Street Walpole. Interment will be private. Memorial donations may be made for James's grandson Michael Melish to: Lahey Clinic Institute for the Liver Transplantation Fund c/o Philanthropy Department 41 Mall Road Burlington, MA 01805.
