Jacquelyn Lee Sampson, age 67, passed away on Wednesday, February 8, 2023, at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, Massachusetts, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Norwood, Massachusetts on August 5, 1955, she was the daughter of the late Warren Phillip and Thelma Leda (Chapdeline) Sampson. She was raised in Walpole, Massachusetts, where, as a young girl, she found her love for swimming. Throughout her years at Walpole High School, Jackie was a standout athlete with the Walpole Swim Team, competing in various meets before her graduation with the Class of 1973. Jackie continued her education at Elon University in North Carolina, earning her bachelors degree in 1977.
Following her graduation, Jackie returned home to Massachusetts, taking a position with Sun Life of Canada in their Wellesley office, beginning her career as an insurance underwriter. She went on to purchase her family's home in Walpole, where she lived until settling in North Attleborough. While living in North Attleborough, Jackie married her husband, Paul Douglas Gentile, and together they traveled south, making their home in North Carolina. A short time later, Jackie and Paul returned to Massachusetts, making their home in Attleboro, Massachusetts. Upon their return north, Jackie took a position with the John Hancock Life Insurance Company, working in downtown Boston.
After Paul's passing in 2008, Jackie took some time for herself before meeting Richard D'Amore and finding her zest for life again. She and Rich made their home together in North Easton, enjoying the natural beauty of Borderland State Park and the town's conservation land that surrounded their house. Jackie continued making the commute to Boston until her retirement in 2018. After her retirement, Jackie regularly gave back to her community, volunteering with the Easton Food Pantry.
Throughout her life, Jackie loved entertaining in her home, finding any reason to cook a meal to be enjoyed, complete with a home baked dessert. She looked forward to opening her home to her family, hosting holidays and celebrations over the years. As much as she loved being in her kitchen, Jackie truly loved being outdoors, whether working in her beautiful gardens, spending time at the Sharon Fish and Game Club, or walking on the beach and the ocean. In more recent years, she loved jumping in the front seat of Rich's 1940 Ford, cruising the area roads and checking out various car shows. Back at home, after a long day, Jackie looked forward to relaxing curled up with her dogs.
