J. Edmund Johnson

J. Edmund Johnson, age 84 years, died in the Ellis Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Norwood, Massachusetts on Friday, October 25, 2013. Born in Norwood on January 7, 1929, he was the son of the late John E. and Esther (Sundquist) Johnson. He was raised and educated in Norwood, graduating from Norwood High School with the class of 1946. After high school, Edmund proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II. He served in the Asiatic Pacific Theatre of Operations and took part in the Occupation of Japan. Upon his return from the service, he settled down and raised his family in Walpole, where he lived until 1984, when he moved to Wrentham.

Edmund spent his working career as an electrionics technician. He was employed by Lake Systems in Newton and retired in 1991 with 43 years of service. As a part time job he served as a television repairman for 20 years and also worked for Payne Furniture in Norwood.

He was a member of the Order of Runeberg in Norwood and enjoyed dancing at the Viking Club. Edmund also enjoyed traveling, playing cribbage, and tending to his yard. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family.

Beloved husband of the late Patricia (Pond) Johnson and Edith Johnson. Loving father of Kenneth E. Johnson of Morgan Hill, CA, Kristin P. Stashenko of Medfield, Dianne E. Allen of Columbus, OH, Gary P. Johnson of McKinney, TX, Susan M. O'Neil of Souderton, PA, Elizabeth A. Williamson of Franklin. Step father of Fred Abrahamson of Raynham, Lars Abrahamson of Dedham, Carol Marsocci of North Kingstown, RI, Carl Abrahamson of Dedham. Cherished grandfather of 23 and great grandfather of 2. Brother of the late Ethel Balduf.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend Edmund's Life Celebration on Monday, October 28, 2013 from 4-7 PM in the James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home 48 Common Street Walpole. A funeral service will be held in the United Church in Walpole on Tuesday, October 29, 2013 at 11:00 AM. Interment will be in Maple Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association 480 Pleasant Street Watertown, MA 02472.
