MR. HERBERT R. FORTNAM AGE 82 YEARS DIED IN THE CARITAS NORWOOD HOSPITAL ON TUESDAY EVENING , JUNE 6TH, 2006. BORN IN NORWOOD, ON December 1st, 1923, the son of the late Horace & Elsie (Groh) Fortnam. He was raised in Islington, and attended the Westwood Public Schools. After high school he entered the United States Army and was later transferred to the United States Army Air Corp, where he served as a flight officer , assigned to the B-29's.
A resident of Walpole for all of his adult life. He worked for Joseph Lorusso as a master mechanic for over 38 years. In his retirement he joined his brother Edwin as a driver for the American Auto Auction.
An avid New England Patriots Fan, Boston Red Sox Fan and his love for NASCAR, topped the list of leisure time activities. He was a Member of the Medfield American Legion Post.
Beloved husband of the late Joan (Curran) Fortnam for 24 years and the late Maria (Paquin) Fortnam for 9 years. Loving father of Leslie McDavitt, Jill Rolllins both of N. Attleboro, Claire Littlefield of Montana, Caren Guthrie of Norton, Cathy Curelop of Attleboro, Heidi Canonico of Franklin, Joseph Paquin of Walpole, Scott Paquin of Attleboro, Tina Roderick of Taunton, Tammy Borden of Wrentham, and Shannon Paquin of Taunton. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend the funeral service in the James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home 48 Common Street Walpole on Saturday, June 10th, 2006 @ 11AM. Visiting hours are Friday Afternoon, June 9th, 2006 from 4pm to 8pm. Interment will be private. Memorial donations maybe made to Disabled American Veterans 801 18th St NW Washington D.C. 20006.
