Helenmarie Diamond

Helenmarie (Doe) Diamond, age 81 years, died in the New England Sinai Hospital in Stoughton, Massachusetts on Friday, March 21, 2014. Born in Boston, Massachusetts on June 6, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Ralph W. and Mary F. (Barry) Doe. She graduated from Dedham High School with the class of 1949 and continued her education at the Chandler School of Business, graduating in 1951. She has been a resident of Norfolk, Massachusetts since 1963 moving from Brookline.

She worked for the Norfolk Police Department as an Administrative Assistant for 15 years, retiring in 1998.

Helenmarie enjoyed music and was an avid reader.  She also loved to go to the movies and see live theater performances.  An enthusiastic and loyal Boston sports fan, she attended both a Patriots and a Red Sox game as recently as 2012. Blessed with many friends, she enjoyed mystery rides with the lunch ladies, meeting at the senior center to clip coupons for military families, playing cards on Saturday nights with a good martini, an occasional gathering for a Sunday dinner, reunions with high school friends or the Chandler girls, and mini vacations down the Cape or at Lake Winnipesaukee in Meredith, NH.  She was very proud of her children and grandchildren.  She taught and spent countless hours playing games with her grandchildren when they were younger and was thrilled to receive a surprise visit or phone call as they grew older. She loved being an aunt and adored her many nieces and nephews. 

Loving mother of Peter C. Diamond of Norfolk, Maria J. Diamond and her partner Jack Wood of Norfolk, Virginia M. Foster of Norfolk, Paul C. and his wife Karen (Mello) Diamond of Easton, Patricia L. Diamond of Las Vegas, and Cynthia L. and her husband David Vaphiades of Norton. Cherished grandmother of Brianna, Mitchell, Garrett, Samantha, Mikayla, Hellena, Dylan, Brandon, Taylor, Victoria, and Benjamin. Sister of the late Ralph W. "Doc" Doe, Jr., the late Warren A. Doe the late Robert H. Doe, and the late Marion (Doe) Gorham. Sister in law of the late Dorothea Doe,  the late Lucy K. Doe and the late Edward F. Gorham. Also survived by her cousin Constance Barry of Millis and many adored nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend Helenmarie’s Life Celebration on Tuesday, March 25, 2014 from 4-8PM and Wednesday, March 26, 2014 from 9-9:30AM in the James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home, 48 Common Street, Walpole. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Saint Jude’s Church, 86 Main Street, Norfolk on Wednesday, March 26, 2014 at 10AM. Interment will follow in Waterside Cemetery in Marblehead. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Saint Jude’s Church, P.O. Box 305, Norfolk, MA 02056 or the American Lung Association 460 Totten Pond Road, Suite 400, Waltham, MA 02451.
