Helen M. Robbins

Helen M. Robbins (O’Connor), 90, passed away peacefully on July 10, 2023. She was the mother of four, grandmother of seven, and great-grandmother of two. She was an avid Red Sox fan, a lover of Celtic Thunder Irish music, and was a dedicated nurse to the elderly for most of her nursing career. She was a resident of Walpole for nearly 60 years and a recent resident of the Pond Home in Wrentham where she received excellent care and made many friends over the last 7 years.

She was born in Cambridge to Dennis and Mary (Reardon) O’Connor, both immigrants of Ireland. She graduated from Belmont High School and the Peter Bent Brigham Hospital School of Nursing as a Registered Nurse. Helen worked at the Brigham, Boston Edison, and Glover Memorial Hospital in her early nursing career before transitioning to nursing home care at the Ellis Nursing Home where she worked for 26 years until her retirement. She felt that elder care was her calling and excelled at compassionate care for her patients.

She was the organized planner of the annual family camping vacations, which ranged from Prince Edward Island to the Florida Keys and included several trips to Disney World. She was happiest in her lounge chair, with a good book, by Bunganut Lake in Maine. During retirement, she enjoyed many trips abroad with friends, which included some of the same nurses she graduated with in 1954.

Helen is survived by her children: Kathleen (Tom) Restuccia of Foxborough, Paul (Julie) Robbins of Franklin, Patricia (Michael) Mucci of Upton, and the late John Robbins (Laura) of Walpole.  She was the grandmother of seven grandchildren: Samantha Robbins, Victoria Jones, Mark Robbins, Nicholas Mucci, Christopher Mucci, Kyle Robbins, and Kaylee Robbins. She was also the proud great-grandmother to Theo Jones and Everly Jones. She is predeceased by her husband Stanley Robbins whom she married in 1958, her son John Robbins, and her brothers Thomas and John O’Connor, and her sister Mary Ellen O’Connor.
