Helen D. (Dahill) Farinacci, age 89 years, died in the Reston Hospital in Reston, Virginia on Saturday, January 11, 2014. Born in Dorchester, Massachusetts on July 16, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Thomas H. and Helen (Ireland) Dahill. She graduated from Arlington High School with the class of 1942. She was the wife of Anthony (Tony) M. Farinacci and has been a resident of Walpole, Massachusetts since 1951.

Shortly after graduating high school Helen enlisted and proudly served in the United States Navy during World War II. She was stationed at Bethesda Hospital in Maryland as a Hospital Apprentice 1st Class and was honorably discharged in 1946. After her discharge, Helen attended Boston University, then worked as an Executive Secretary at Mass Bonding and Insurance, Co. When Helen and her husband, Tony, decided to begin their family, she left the working world to become a homemaker. She and Tony raised and cared for eight children. After her family was grown, Helen returned to work, initially at Damon Engineering in Dedham. In 1972, Helen became the Secretary to the Walpole Planning Board where she served for eight years. She worked for the Walpole Building Inspector from 1980 - 1986 and volunteered as a Secretary to the Walpole Historical Commission from 2001- 2005. Helen also worked many years for the Town of Norwood as Secretary to the Board of Appeals and the Planning Board.

As a dedicated care giver, Helen was very proud of her work as a volunteer at the Norwood Hospital. She was also proud of her work through Blessed Sacrament Church in Walpole to assist with outreach to the sick and elderly and to serve as a Eucharistic Minister. In her retirement Helen also volunteered at the Walpole town hall and was an appointed member of the Walpole Historical Commission.

Helen loved to travel and did so extensively through the United States and to various places internationally. Some of her most memorable trips included Italy, Ireland, England, The Czech Republic, Austria, Budapest, Greece, Spain, and the Caribbean. Helen also enjoyed watching sports, especially when her children or gandchildren were playing. However, most of all Helen will be remembered as a loving care giver.
