MRS. GRACE LORENE (KENDRICK) BELCHER (WRITTEN BY MRS. BELCHER ON FEBRUARY 8, 1978)
Born on February 4th, 1917 on a farm, 5 miles west and 2 miles south of Pauline, Kansas on the Broun place. Parents were Lena Smyth Kendrick and Oscar Howard Kendrick. The family moved to Topeka later that year and finally established residence at 904 W. 8th Street. She attended Clay School, Roosevelt Jr. High and Topeka High School. She graduated from Kansas State College in 1939 and spent a year doing graduate work in Dietetics at Duke University, Durham, NC. After working 8 months as a dietitian in Waco, Texas , she married Roy Swan Belcher, Jr., a naval aviator then stationed at Corpus Christi, Texas. During their 30 years of life in the Navy, six children were born into their family.
Since Capt Belcher & Mrs. Belcher retired in 1970, they have made their home in South Walpole, MA.
Beloved wife of the late Capt Roy Swan Belcher, Jr. Loving mother of Barbara E. Robertson of Ashland, VA, Cynthia May Belcher of Plainville, Roy S. Belcher, III of Attleboro, George K. Belcher of Montpelier, Vt , Jonathan Belcher and Robert S. Belcher both of South Walpole. Cherished Grandmother of 10 and great grandmother of 3 Sister of the late Eugene Kendrick, the late Juanita Kendrick Ruffner and the late Leslie Kendrick.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend the funeral service in the James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home 48 Common Street Walpole on Saturday morning November 19th, 2005 @ 10AM. Visiting hours are Friday afternoon 5 to 7 pm. Interment Terrace Hill Cemetery So. Walpole.
