Gordon S. Hill Sr., age 90, passed away on Tuesday February 26, 2019 surrounded by his loving family. Born in Norwood, Massachusetts on August 6, 1928, he was the son of the late Alan J. Hill and Annie (McLeod) Hill. Raised in Norwood, he attended Norwood High School until 1946. He joined the Army at the age of 17 and earned his GED during his service that year.
Gordon was a proud veteran who served his country through both World War II as well as the Korean War as a Private First Class in the United States Army.
Gordon married the love of his life, Bridget Louise (Stack) Hill in New Hampshire during October of 1948. When Gordon returned home from military service he began his career with Greyhound Bus Company where he stayed for twenty-four years.. Gordon loved to reminisce about his days behind the wheel and often delighted in sharing his stories from his time at Greyhound with his family. After he retired Gordon had a delivery route with The Walpole Times. He also volunteered for Meals on Wheels delivering food for people in need.
Everyone who was given the chance to spend their time with Gordon was able to see how compassionate he was. He loved animals and took great care of his family’s pets. He also helped to raise his grandchildren. Gordon’s children fondly remember how much he loved to cook their favorite dishes. Reading was also one of his favorite hobbies.

Cherished grandfather of Michael Rubin, Stephen Rubin, Brian Parker, Jonathan Underhill Jr., Matthew Underhill and Jamie Engler, and great- grandfather of Connor, Matthew, Thomas, and Trent.
Brother of the late Sadie Hutchins, Roy Hill, Alena Hart, Chris Turco, Jack Hill and David Hill.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend Gordon’s Life Celebration on Friday, March 1, 2019 from 9 to 10 AM, followed by a Funeral Home Service at 10 AM, in the James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home, 48 Common Street, Walpole. Interment will follow in Highland Cemetery in Norwood.
