Glenn Howard Peck, age 71, passed away on Sunday, June 23rd, 2024, at Brigham & Women's Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Brockton, Massachusetts on September 3, 1952, he was the son of Harold and Katherine (Welch) Peck. Glenn was a lifelong resident of Sharon, Massachusetts and attended Sharon public schools in his youth.
The town of Sharon was incredibly important to Glenn, so it was only natural that he worked there in addition to living there. He began his career as a custodian at the Sharon Recreation Center, taking pride in keeping the community space ready for visitors and events to enjoy. Glenn later transitioned to the Sharon Public Works Department, where he assisted in a variety of operations and roles. He was the first to arrive every day and quickly took care of any task that needed tending to until the day he retired.
In his retirement, Glenn enjoyed his many hobbies, but he missed his work and returned to working for the town of Sharon, this time as the caretaker for the Sharon Community Center. In his free time, Glenn enjoyed spending time with family and friends, especially the love of his life, Gretchen McMahon. He had a great sense of humor, often cracking jokes or playing pranks, loving that he could make other people laugh. Every year, Glenn looked forward to spending the Fourth of July on Martha's Vineyard or in Provincetown, catching the fireworks and making memories with those he loved. Back at home, Glenn's house was always decorated for his favorite holiday with nutcrackers and snowmen lining his shelves alongside his collection of Dickens Village Houses. His home was a Christmas wonderland, even in the heat of summer, as Glenn had the Christmas spirit year-round. Glenn also enjoyed being outside in nature. He was an avid fisherman, casting a line in local ponds and lakes as well as enjoying saltwater fishing adventures. Glenn could also be found tending to his garden, growing delicious vegetables as well as beautiful flowers to brighten his home with. He will be remembered as a kind and caring man, who truly had a heart of gold.
