Giuliano G. Selmi, age 92, passed away on Wednesday, March 17, 2021 surrounded by his children at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, Massachusetts. Born in Florence, Italy on February 11, 1929, he was the son of the late Augusto and Natalina (Carrai) Selmi. He was raised and educated in Florence, where he served as an altar boy at the Cathedral. After high school, Giuliano traveled to Rome, where he graduated from the Treasury Police Academy in 1948.
In 1956, Giuliano was working in a train station as a noncommissioned officer with the Finanza (Treasury Police), when he noticed a beautiful young woman, Evelyn L. Domenichelli, who was on vacation in Italy. Giuliano and Evelyn wrote each other for three years, building a beautiful relationship, before Evelyn returned to Italy to join Giuliano in marriage. They were married on August 8, 1959 in Giuliano's hometown of Florence and after spending some time in Italy together, the couple traveled to the United States, initially making their home in Bridgeport, Connecticut in 1960.
Giuliano found work at Rolock Manufacturing as a welder, before retiring 27 years later as foreman in 1994. In 1967, Giuliano and Evelyn relocated to Milford, CT where they raised their family. Then, in 2013, after making their home in Milford for over 45 years, Giuliano and Evelyn moved to Massachusetts, settling in the Town of Norfolk, to be closer to their daughter, son, and grandchildren. As a man of great faith, Giuliano and Evelyn joined Saint Jude's Church and the Knights of Columbus, Council 5231, where he was honored as a Fourth Degree Knight.
When he wasn't hard at work, Giuliano enjoyed spending time by the water. He loved to fish in his adopted hometown of Milford, CT. Back at home, Giuliano enjoyed reading about history. Giuliano was also a wonderful cook. Most of all, Giuliano was a family man, who adored spending time with those he loved, including the most recent addition to his family, his dog, Annie.
Beloved husband of the late Evelyn L. (Domenichelli) Selmi. Loving father of Christine A. Selmi Jameson and her husband, John J., of Chestnut Hill and Roger J. Selmi and his wife, Krista, of Dover. Cherished grandfather of Christian R. Selmi and Matthew J. Selmi.
