Gertrude I. Sullivan

Gertrude I. (Kivi) Sullivan, age 92, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 29, 2022, at her home in Wrentham, Massachusetts, surrounded by her loving family.  Born in her family's home in Walpole, Massachusetts on March 21, 1930, she was the daughter of the late William O. and Blanche I. (Goff) Kivi.  She was raised in Walpole, where she graduated from Walpole High School with the Class of 1948.  Following her graduation, Gertrude took a secretarial position with Herb Lewis Insurance Agency in Walpole center.

Gertrude married her beloved husband, Richard T. Sullivan, on May 25, 1952, in East Walpole.  The young couple made their home together on Walnut Street in Walpole and Gertrude's career led her to the Town Clerk's Office, where she served as a secretary for several years.  After welcoming her children, Gertrude took on the role of a homemaker, raising and caring for her family.  As a young mother, Gertrude regularly walked across town to Bird Park in East Walpole, affording her children the chance to be outdoors and enjoy all the park had to offer.  On the weekends, Gertrude loaded her family into the car for a shopping extravaganza in the shops of downtown Boston, with one of her favorites being Filene's Basement.  Once her four children grew up, she returned to her position at the Walpole Town Clerk's Office, serving her community for many years before her retirement.  More recently, in 2001, Gertrude and Richard made their home together in Wrentham, where they enjoyed retirement.

Throughout her life, Gertrude enjoyed a full social calendar, spending time with her friends at countless events over the years.  She and Richard made a weekly trip to Christo's in Brockton for a night out full of laughter and fun with their many friends that they met there over the years.  Back at home, Gertrude enjoyed tending to her flower gardens and was known for her famous apple pie.  Most of all, Gertrude was devoted to her family, treasuring every moment she spent with those she loved, especially her grandchildren.

Loving mother of Kathie Farrington and her husband, Wayne, of Canaan, Connecticut, Scott Sullivan of Wrentham, Brian Sullivan of Newark, Delaware, and Nancie McDonald and her husband, Keith, of Wrentham.

Cherished grandmother of Jessica, Melissa, Nicolette, Justine, and Adelle; and great grandmother of Molly, Keegan, Haley, and Julia.

Sister of the late William O. Kivi Jr. and his surviving wife, Phyllis, of Walpole.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to gather on Friday, December 9, 2022, from 10 to 11 AM in the James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home, 48 Common Street, Walpole, prior to Gertrude's Funeral Home Service that will be held at 11:00 AM.  Interment will take place privately in Rural Cemetery in Walpole.
