Gertrude "Trudy" Sullivan
Sharon, MA
"Hostess with the mostest." For decades, there would be scores of people at the annual Saint Patrick's Day party and many more at the 4th of July event held at Trudy and Frank's home in Sharon, MA. There were four perfectly planned weddings and countless dinner parties where Trudy was the most stunning and gracious hostess. Trudy's most frequent and cherished guests included her six children and their spouses, 18 grandchildren and the many friends they brought with them. She made a lot of people happy!
Trudy Sullivan passed away on Monday in Westwood, MA. Born on February 18, 1924 in Boston, MA to William and Anna Walsh, Trudy worked at Cabot Advertising before meeting and marrying the love of her life, Francis "Frank" Sullivan. They lived, loved and gave back to the community of Sharon, MA for 54 years.
Trudy's lifelong personal relationship with the Lord provided great comfort and optimism and was reflected in her positive attitude towards life. While Frank travelled the globe as VP General Counsel for GTE, Trudy raised six children and maintained a busy household. She also shared her talents with volunteer activities like being one of the first female lectors at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, working as receptionist at Cardinal Cushing Hospital and sharing in prayer with the female occupants of Framingham Correctional Institute.
When asked, Trudy's greatest accomplishment was, "having a happy marriage because then everything else just fell into place." Her family could not agree more as they attribute their closeness to each other to watching what Trudy and Frank fostered. They provided a loving example to which we all can strive.
Trudy is most happy now that she is with the Lord and has been reunited with Frank and their beloved son David.
Trudy is the beloved mother of Marion and husband Gregory Sullivan of Norwood, deceased son David and wife Carol Sullivan of Marshfield, Claire and husband Joe Sibilia of Hampden, Mark and wife Telma Sullivan of Walpole, Ann and husband Douglas Stockbridge of Kennebunk, ME, and Jean and husband Alexander Easterday of Concord.
Trudy is "Grammy" to Michael (Leslie) Sullivan, Andrew Sullivan (Felix Diaz), Jennifer Sullivan, Daniel (Lia) Sullivan, Kate (Richard) Delanders, Ben Sullivan, Kristen (Timothy) White, Kendra (Sean) Bennett, Kayla Sibilia, Ana Sullivan, Claire Sullivan, Doug Stockbridge, Jr., Robert Stockbridge, Elizabeth Stockbridge, William Easterday, Jack Easterday, Catherine Easterday, and Max Easterday.
Trudy is "great-Grammy" to Sam Sullivan, Jake Sullivan, Avery Delanders, Jackson Delanders, Eleanor White and Maeve Bennett.
Trudy is sister to Jeannette Lehman of Easton and aunt to many nieces and nephews.
Trudy's family is most thankful for the quality and compassion of care provided to her by the staff at Bridges by EPOCH of Westwood and Ascend Hospice of Marlborough.
