Gerard J. "Jerry" Smolinsky, age 71, passed away peacefully in his Plymouth, Massachusetts home on Thursday, November 5, 2015, after a long illness. Surrounded by his loving family. Born in Boston, Massachusetts on September 6, 1944, he was the son of the late John P. and Anna (Bowen) Smolinsky. He was raised in Jamaica Plain and graduated from Saint Thomas Aquinas High School with the Class of 1962, where he played both football and basketball. After graduation, Jerry married his high school sweetheart, Noreen "Nono" Mellett, and together they made their permanent home in Walpole where they raised their four children.
Jerry served his country in the United States Coast Guard before earning employment with the Boston Gas Company. His career began in the mailroom before he became a chauffeur for the company executives. He moved on to later become a service man for Boston Gas. Later in his career, he became a dispatcher for the Boston Gas Company, from where he retired in 2004 with 42 years of dedicated service.
On November 11, 2009, Jerry married his wife Nancy and they made their home in "The Great Island Community" in the Pine Hills of Plymouth. He enjoyed making new friends in the over "55" Community. The men in the neighbor had a breakfast club that he especially enjoyed; they called themselves "The Romeo's "(Retired Old Men Eating Out)
Jerry and Nancy enjoyed some wonderful vacations together. His very favorite vacation spot on earth was Disney World in Florida, where he traveled to many times. Jerry could always strike up a conversation when it came to Disney. Above all, Jerry loved any opportunity he had to spend time with his family and grandchildren.

Loving father of Gerard J. Smolinsky, Jr. and Lee of Wrentham, David P. Smolinsky and Lily of Walpole, Kerry A. LaSalvia and the late David of Walpole, and Brendan M. Smolinsky and Reilly of San Antonio, TX.
Cherished grandfather of Emily, Hailey, Allison, Coleman, Kyle, David, and Brendan.
Step father of Lauren Bryant of Taunton and Stephen LeGrow of Middleboro.
Brother of Connie O'Connell of Waltham, Edward Smolinsky of Waltham, Ann Scimone of North Attleboro, the late Jack Smolinsky, and the late Frank Smolinsky.
Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend Jerry's Life Celebration on Monday, November 9, 2015 from 4-8PM and Tuesday, November 10, 2015 from 9-9:30AM in the James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home, 48 Common Street, Walpole. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Blessed Sacrament Church, 10 Diamond Street, Walpole on Tuesday, November 10, 2015 at 10:00 AM.
