Gerard P. "Gerry" Reilly

January 4, 1962 — July 12, 2017

Gerard P. "Gerry" Reilly, age 55, passed away unexpectedly in his Plymouth, Massachusetts home on Wednesday, July 12, 2017. Born at Saint Elizabeth Hospital in Brighton, Massachusetts, alongside his twin sister, Jeanne, on January 4, 1962. He was the son of David T. Reilly and Dorothy A. Gill. As a young boy, Gerry attended Blessed Sacrament School in Walpole and developed his lifelong love for baseball playing Little League in both Walpole and Point Lookout, NY where he spent his summers as a child. He was somewhat mischievous and often could be found up to something, alongside his cousin, Chris. He continued his education at Sudbury Valley High School, after which he entered the Merchant Marines in 1981, serving for almost 2 years. He spent many summers in Point Lookout New York visiting friends and relatives

After his discharge from the Merchant Marines, Gerry entered the restaurant world, taking a position at Cory's in Dedham. His dedication was noticed and he came up through the ranks to earn the position of manager at Cory's. He left Cory's to take a position at the Beacon in Walpole as a bartender, where he worked for many years, developing life long friends. His greatest gift was anticipating the needs of others, as he loved making other people happy. As such he became the favorite bartender to many patrons at the Beacon, bringing joy and laughter to all whom he served. He developed a loyal following of customers, who would take the time to find out where he was working and always travel to see him. After the Beacon closed, his customers did just that, following him to the Lafayette House in Foxborough and most recently Conrad's in Walpole Center, where he was currently employed.

Throughout his life, Gerry loved animals, especially horses and dogs. He spent countless hours walking Teddy and the Late Little Bear around Plymouth with his mother and sisters. Gerry also loved following the New England Sports Teams, however since baseball was very close to his heart, he had a special devotion to the Boston Red Sox. While he enjoyed taking care of others, Gerry did enjoy very peaceful time for himself at his family's camp in Maine, which he found to be beautiful and serene.

Above all, Gerry's life was all about his family, he enjoyed spending time with his brothers and sisters, whom he loved endlessly. When his mother wanted someone close to her, Gerry left his hometown of Walpole and settled in Plymouth to live with her, he was her rock and his ability to anticipate her needs made it so easy for him to make her happy. Gerry had a true love for life and was unbelievably happy to have those that he loved around him.

Devoted son of Dorothy A. Gill of Plymouth and the late David T. Reilly.
